Halloween Part One (For Will)
In truth, Alex hadn't really been all that into the idea of Halloween. He hadn't been in the US for Halloween for the bast couple years and it just didn't have the same appeal over seas. Couple that with his subdued mood of the past few weeks and the holiday just didn't really have any appeal.
What Alex didn't count on was his brother and his insistence that he needed a brother for his costume. When he tried to point out that Will in fact had two other brothers he could bother, he was met with the argument that neither of them had the talent with words that the God of Lies needed to have in spades. There was more to it, but that was how Alex agreed to dress up as Loki to Will's Thor as they handed out candy for trick or treaters at Will's home.
It turned out actually being a lot of fun. He played up before the proper, intense Loki to Will's goofy Thor and they made the kids laugh. He even pretended to be defeated by the kids if they recognized him as villain while Will handed out candy. It was fun and silly and just what he needed, playful time with his brother, who he'd really missed while he as off eloping.
After shutting the door on another bunch of trick or treaters, Alex collapsed on the couch with a gasping breath before looking over his shoulder at Will. "Alright, I will admit. This is fun."

So Will could go and have a word....

"Being the middle of five gave me good experience in keeping things to myself." Alex said with a smile that was finally more teasing then sad. "It helps that a playboy make far better headlines then an academic."
And he knew exactly what his brother was thinking. They had two younger brothers and yet Will seem fixated on treating Alex like the baby. It was both annoying and charming. "So you can have a 'word' with them? No Will, leave them be. It really doesn't matter anymore." The last thing he wanted to add to the mess was an overprotective brother.

"No, of course not. I have no idea what you're talking about. But a little whisper in their ear won't do them any harm, will it?" Will replied, smiling good naturedly at Alex. Will would do it for the other two as well and had done when he'd thought Ed's ex was praying on a vulnerable boy who'd lost his older brother. William could be very... intimidating for such a goofball. "If it doesn't matter then why are you protecting them?"

Well damn. Will had him there. Alex actually had to stop and think for a minute why it mattered so much for Will not to know who Wren was.
"It's...complicated." He winced as he knew how bad that sounded. "They are dealing with learning magic and sirens are real. They don't need an overprotective brother to make things worse." He finally added, hoping that was enough.

"Of course it is, you're a Cabot. If our relationships weren't complicated then we wouldn't be us, would we?" Will replied, draping his heavy arm over his brother's shoulder in a half hearted reassurance- almost a hug. "You keep saying they... you know if it's a guy then I can deal with that. Right? I mean, you've walked in on me and four girls no wait five."
no subject
"Maybe for you. This is why I tend yo stay away from them period. You saw what happened before I came home." Granted, that almost marriage had been forced on him so it probably didn't count. He was too used to people seeing him as a Cabot or a powerful siren...not just him. His research was safer.
He sighed as he leaned into the comforting bulk of Will's side, wondering home much to confirm. He knew Will would be alright Wren was male, Alex admitting this about anyone was hard. "Maybe I didn't want to narrow your hunt to only half the population of Siren Cove."

"Marrying an entire tribe doesn't happen that often, does it little brother? Besides you wouldn't have to marry an entire tribe if you just dated someone." Will replied before smiling when Alex admitted evasively that he'd been seeing a guy. Honestly he should have told Alex about Henry but their older brother had always wanted to tell their family on his own terms. He'd just never got the chance to. "Really. So, it's someone that I can punch then... interesting. What's his name?"
no subject
Alex hadn't thought he'd implied anything but the way his head snapped around to look at Will spoke volumes. "It's not...damnit." He groaned and dropped his head back against the couch. "It doesn't matter who he is, okay?"
